There are no minimum IELTS eligibility criteria for IELTS test any person who wish to peruse education or work opportunities in an English Speaking country can apply for the IELTS test. According to the test pattern the test is conducted in two versions, IELTS Academic & IELTS General.
• IELTS Academic scores are accepted by universities or institutes of higher and further education in English speaking countries. Admissions to Under Graduate and Post Graduate courses are based on the result of the academic test.
• IELTS General Trainingformat measures candidate’s general survival skills in broad social and workplace context. Typically people going to English speaking countries to settle, gain work experience or engage in training programs register for general training IELTS. People migrating to Australia, Canada & New Zealand must sit for General Training test.

The first step making sure you are ready to take IELTS is to prepare for it so you know what to expect on the test day. Preparation material for IELTS Academic and General Training
British Council offers you a wide range of free IELTS study materials to help you achieve your score.
You are only allowed to have a pencil, pen, your ID, and an eraser on your desk.
The paper-based test is easier than the computer-delivered test. This is a myth! Again, both the computer-delivered and paper-based IELTS test are the same level of difficulty. The computer-delivered test has a help button to assist you throughout the test.
If you have taken the paper-based IELTS test, you will be able to preview your results by 12:00 noon after 13 calendar days from the test date. If you have taken the computer-based IELTS test, you will be able to preview your results after 3 to 5 calendar days from the test date.
